Team Accord: Bronte Schoonen, Marketing Manager

Bronte is our in-house marketing strategist, responsible for crafting the narrative that positions our agency as an industry leader.

What inspired you to join Accord?

When I joined Accord, I was ready for a new challenge and eager to push my skills, knowledge, and experience to new heights. Accord offered that and more. While many companies claim to have a welcoming and supportive team, at Accord, this truly is the case.

What is your role, and what do you enjoy most about it?

As the Marketing Manager for Accord, I oversee the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote our agency's services, ensuring our brand is effectively communicated across all channels. I enjoy the creativity and strategic thinking my job requires, and the dynamic nature of marketing keeps me engaged since there’s always something new to learn.

I love collaborating with all the different departments within Accord and showcasing the amazing work our team achieves. Award season is always an exciting time for us!

What project are you most proud of?

I am most proud of our annual "No Such Normal" white paper. Each year, we release a comprehensive marketing landscape round-up and forecast, capped off with a fantastic panel event for its launch. Covering everything from TV and radio to digital, it offers many new insights and learnings. With autumn fast approaching (not to wish the summer away!), it’s nearly time for us to start prepping for our 2025 release, and I’m excited to see the final results.

And what do you find the most challenging?

The most challenging aspect of my role is staying ahead in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Marketing trends and technologies are constantly changing, requiring continuous learning and adaptation to keep Accord at the forefront of people’s minds.

What do you get up to in your spare time outside of work?

Meet Jorge!

On a personal note, I'm finally working on getting my driving license after putting it off for more years than I care to admit. I've relied on London public transport for far too long, and I must say the Central Line seems more appealing than tackling roundabouts…

I also recently brought a new furry friend home, who has been occupying a lot of my time outside of work. The late summer evenings have been perfect for puppy adventures in the park.

What advice would you give to someone starting in the industry?

Don't be afraid to ask questions! When you're starting in the industry, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Being part of an agency gives you the perfect opportunity to surround yourself with experts and learn from the best. I also recommend following industry leaders and informative pages on LinkedIn for valuable advice, knowledge, and tips, such as:

  • Because of Marketing

  • Pretty Little Marketer

  • Girls in Marketing

  • The Marketing Millennials

  • Mark Ritson

  • Dr. Grace Kite

  • Sophie Miller

  • Rob Mayhew

If you could swap your role with anyone else in the company, who would it be?

This is a tricky one. The Creative’s team ability to take something from an idea on paper to the final result always has me in awe. But I think to have the wealth of knowledge our Digital Director, Dan has would be super cool.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I always say I would like the ability to control time, but then I get flashbacks of the 00s movie Click and quickly change my mind! I think having the ability to read people's minds would be a fun superpower to have.

What’s the most interesting book, podcast, or movie you’ve read/watched recently?

I recently read Atomic Habits by James Clear after it was recommended by so many members of the team. I found it incredibly insightful. The idea that "tiny improvements over time lead to remarkable results" and focusing on being "1% better each day" really resonated with me.

If you're looking for a new series to watch, I highly recommend The Bear. Everything about that show has me hooked!

What’s something on your bucket list that you haven’t had the chance to do yet?

Working in a travel-focused environment has definitely fuelled my wanderlust. Right at the top of my bucket list is to visit Canada. It’s been a dream for a while, and I’m excited for the day when I can finally make it a reality.
