Team Accord: Anna Henderson, Strategy and Research Executive

Meet Anna, our newest Strategy team member and strategic thinker behind our innovative marketing campaigns.

 

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Accord?

I joined Accord as a fresh graduate from the University of Nottingham, where I earned a degree in International Media and Communications Studies. In my role as Strategy and Research Executive, I analyse market and consumer research and generate insights that help to inform marketing strategies for our clients. I’ve also always got my eye out for industry updates to share internally with the team.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Each day is slightly different for me, but I usually start by checking the industry newsletters in my inbox for any updates to share with the team. After that, I'll often work on summarising recent reports or developing the insights section of a client deck. Between tasks, I make time for personal development, whether it's reading a book, attending a webinar, or completing an online course.

What project are you most proud of?

I'm proud of my contribution to our recent Holiday Horizons whitepaper. I was responsible for identifying the key insights from our research and writing the summary section. Seeing the final report published and knowing I played a part in its success felt really good!

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest developments in marketing?

I keep up with industry newsletters, reports, and webinars to track emerging trends and updates. Our team values sharing insights and new information with each other, which helps ensure we’re all in the loop with the latest developments.

What do you get up to in your spare time outside of work?

I always have a book (or two) on the go. I also love cooking - most of the time I’ll be making something spicy, like a curry or chilli.

What advice would you give to someone starting in the industry?

Read – lots! And don’t be afraid to ask questions. Before joining Accord, I took advantage of free online courses from platforms like Google and Girls in Marketing to build my skills. There are so many books and online resources to educate yourself. Get to know the fundamentals while keeping up to date with new research and ideas, because the industry is always evolving.

What are you most excited about in the coming year at Accord?

I’m excited to continue collaborating with the team and dive into new client projects in the coming year. The insights I’ve gained from the experienced people here at Accord have been immensely valuable, and I look forward to further develop my skills and make meaningful contributions.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Time travel! I’d love to be able to visit different moments throughout history and get to experience them for myself.

What’s the most interesting book, podcast, or movie you’ve read/watched recently?

I recently read Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari, a book that had been on my list for a while. After getting recommendations from other members of the team, I finally picked it up, and it didn’t disappoint! It explores a detailed account of human history, from our early ancestors to the present day, and examines various perspectives on events. If you’re interested in history or anthropology, I’d definitely recommend giving it a read!

What’s something on your bucket list that you haven’t had the chance to do yet?

After being determined to do it since I was about 8 years old, I finally did a skydive last year. Next I want to do a bungee jump! Who knows what will come after that.
